Help! Burglary! What do I do now?

  • If you find the house open, do not enter, but call the emergency number (112) immediately.
  • If you notice theft, do not touch anything and, if possible, take an inventory of everything that is missing, including an approximate estimate of the stolen items.
  • Report it to the guardia civil and take plenty of photos.

How do I report my damage to ZURICH urgently?

Call the 24/7 emergency number (0034) 933 660 777 where you will be assisted in English, French, German or Spanish (sometimes via translators).

Tip: Add this number to your contacts list in your phone. For example under the name ´Report damage Zurich ´.

How do I report damage to Zurich if it is not an emergency?

  • You can open and follow up a claim file yourself via the Mi Zurich app. Haven't installed the app yet? You can find more information about the Mi Zurich app at: https://azul.zurich.es/mizurich/app/sec/login?lang=nl_NL
  • If you have technical problems installing the Mi Zurich app, among others: tel: (0034) 917549900, choose option 1, and ask an IT specialist who speaks English. Or e-mail in English to: zurichsoporte@zurich.com

  • You can also call the specialised Zurich claims team for foreign customers: (0034) 933 660 777. They can speak to you in English, French, German or Spanish, depending on your preference (sometimes via translators).

Using repair services through Zurich or your own repair companies?

For damage repair, there are always 2 options. You can use the repair services offered through Zurich or you can contact your own repair companies.

The repair companies Zurich works with are local companies. Most restorers at these companies do not speak English. We also have no access or influence on their work schedule. In addition, the speed of work and method of completion may differ from what we are used to. As your insurance intermediary, we want you to be aware of this. After all, this can cause delays during the claim settlement and we as an agent or insurer then have no control over this.

I choose to have my own recovery services.

Perfect. Prior to carrying out work, make sure you receive detailed and realistic price quotes. This is because the Zurich surveyor has to approve the amount of the invoices. Even the invoices you do pay must be detailed, obviously have a VAT (IVA) number, invoice number and state the correct address where the repair was carried out.

If you want to know in advance (before carrying out repairs) whether the damage will be compensated (in full or in part), send the quotes first.

If you are going to repair in any case, even if there is no (full) coverage, you do not have to wait for the result. But always take photos before, during and after the work.

I choose Zurich repair companies.

Perfect as well. Zurich will then send a local repair company.

That company will contact you in advance (via e-mail, phone, whatsapp) to make an appointment. Please be reachable.

Ask for the contact details of the repair company you are visiting. Normally they provide their business card, if not, ask for this.

Further organisation of these appointments is not through the Grupo Xandra office, but directly with the company carrying out the repair, or with Zurich's dispatch service provided for this purpose: (0034) 933 660 777. You can contact them there in English, French, German or Spanish (sometimes through the intervention of a translator).

So do you wish to change appointments with the repairers, report that the repairer did not come to his appointment, give a different telephone number, have another contact who will open the door, etc.? Then contact this Zurich dispatch service directly.

What documents should I submit in case of home burglary or robbery?

  • The declaration (denuncia) from the guardia civil containing a written specification of the circumstances and the stolen objects
  • An approximate cost estimate of the stolen items
  • In the case of electronic devices: purchase invoices or guarantee documents.
  • In the case of jewellery or valuable objects: the purchase invoices. If it is old jewellery or valuable objects for which no purchase invoices exist, a valuation, detailed description and photos of that jewellery, must be submitted.
  • In case of theft of valuable jewellery with a serial number: here you must report the theft to the after-sales department and ask for a proof for your insurer.

In case of burglary damage (doors and windows):

  • Whether you need a repairer or not.
  • In case of burglary damage (doors and windows ) that you have already repaired:
  • The repair invoice specifying the work done.

What about keys and locks?

The cover within your policy includes both sending a professional locksmith to open the door as well as the cost of partial or full lock replacement. Provided, of course, that the damage is the result of the theft and/or robbery.

Turns out that after reporting it to the police, more was stolen after all?

To still be able to claim these items, you must have an extension of the declaration made to the guardia civil (or an: ampliación de denuncia).

In this second declaration, you will mention when you found that these objects were also stolen, and why you did not mention it earlier.

No insurance company will pay compensation for stolen items if they are not mentioned in the declaration.

Remember that an invoice for insurance should include the following information:

- NIF/CIF of the recovery service and name of policyholder

- Invoice number and invoice date

- Total amount, gross, net and tax rate

The invoice must also meet the following conditions in this regard:

- The format of the invoice must not be changeable (Word, Excel, etc.

documents are not suitable).

- The address must exactly match the one mentioned in the policy including street name, house number, postcode and municipality.

I wish Grupo Xandra to open the file on my behalf.

This is, of course, also possible. You can then submit your claim via e-mail to: siniestros@grupoxandra.eu .

Help! The claim settlement is taking a very long time.

If you notice that the settlement of the claim is not being resolved within a reasonable time, please do not hesitate to request our intervention in writing at the mail address: siniestros@grupoxandra.eu.

We hope to have helped you a lot with this information!
